Session messages are the normal (non-template) messages you send while the 24-hour customer service window is open. The window opens when a customer messages you and lasts 24 hours from their last message. From 1 October 2026, Meta gives each WhatsApp number 1,000 free session messages every month. Meta charges for the session messages after that. The rate depends on your customer’s country.
Template messages can be sent irrespective of the session duration. So, template messages are charged per message by Meta, and only when the message is delivered. The price depends on the template category (Marketing, Utility or Authentication) and the customer’s country calling code. Utility templates sent while the 24-hour window is open are charged too, as of 1 October 2026. DelightChat charges WhatsApp’s rates as they are, with no markup.
